Concerned citizens & therapists of Oregon, our state's licensing board that regulates the profession of psychotherapy has openings for a LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) and for a member of the public. This could be your chance to have a voice In protecting our field from ideological capture. See copied + pasted board email below.
The Board is seeking applications for one LPC Board member vacancy and one public member vacancy. To be considered for the next round of appointments, we need to receive interest forms applications no later than June 1, 2023.
If you have ever considered public service, we encourage you to apply for a position on the Board. In these uncertain times, BLPCT welcomes diverse applicants who enjoy collaboration with colleagues and want to give back to the profession.
The mission of the Board is to protect the public by identifying and regulating the practice of qualified mental health counselors and marriage and family therapists. The Board is composed of eight members including three licensed professional counselors, two marriage and family therapists, one member of faculty from a school that trains counselors or therapists, and two public members. Board members are appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate for three-year terms, with an opportunity to serve two terms. The Board meets every other month (on a Friday) to consider and act on compliance cases and to review the business of the Board. Board members also have an opportunity to serve on various committees.
If you or someone you know are interested in serving on the Board, please go to the link below to review the materials and follow the instructions for completing the Interest Form. The Governor’s boards and commissions reflect racial, gender, and geographic diversity, and Board membership is contingent on passage of a criminal background check. If you have any questions about Board membership, please contact Charles Hill, Executive Director at [email protected].

Thank you,
Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists
Thank you for your important work, Stephanie. I have learned a lot from your interviews and am glad to have supported you. But, since you have shifted your focus to your ROGD Parents work, I have decided to end my support here at Locals. Godspeed.
I want to thank each of you for your time here, encouragement, and donations.
You've probably noticed it's pretty quiet around here, without much happening. In contrast, the ROGD Repair Course and Community, for parents of gender-confused youth, has been getting a lot of active engagement. It addresses a powerful need and gives its participants a lot to work with.
So, I've been thinking about migrating the perks of Locals membership over to ROGD Repair and closing this site down after a while. If I do that, it means ROGD Repair members get access to new episodes early, and opportunities to ask questions of future guests.
Please feel free to share your feedback and thoughts on this. I don't expect to see much come in, since it's so quiet here. That, itself, would be feedback for me to consider too.
If you want to join ROGD Repair but haven't yet, and have been a loyal Locals subscriber or otherwise donated, please email [email protected] and I'll make sure you have a coupon ...
